Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Yogi Kalinath - Chapter 4, Verse 34

Pada 4, Sutra 34

Sanskrit Verse

Purusaartha-shoonyaanaam gunaanaam pratiprasavah kaaivalyam svaroopa-pratisthaa vaa citi-shakter iti

Translation

The material modes of Nature return to their source (Prakriti) having no more purpose to serve the Purusha and consciousness abides in its own essence, the Self.

Interpretation

This is the so-called redemption of matter and the realization and advent that there is no self but the Self. Bondage and deliverance is only relative and solely a paradigm of the finite sense of self called mind. The Eternal Witness is the only enduring Self of all selves.

Reflection

"If You do not fast as regards the world, You will not find the Kingdom. If You do not observe the Sabbath as Sabbath, You will not see the Father." Verse 27, The Gospel of (according to) Thomas

Jesus said : "I am the All. Cleave a piece of wood, and I am there. Lift up a stone, and You will find Me there." Verse 77, The Gospel of (according to) Thomas

There is no self but the Self and Thou Art That!

Finis.
