Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Yogi Kalinath - Chapter 4, Verse 22
Pada 4, Sutra 22
Sanskrit Verse
Citer apratisankramaayaas tad-aakaaraa pattau svabuddhi-samvedanam
Translation
When the unchanging awareness of the Self assumes the form of that awareness, experience of one’s own cognition is possible.
Interpretation
Awareness has two modality: one that is immutable and one that is constantly changing. The externalized awareness and the thinking mind is mutable, constantly fluctuating. When consciousness is no longer moved by the movements of the senses or the impressions made upon the mind, then its other modality of immutability is drawn to the Seer. It becomes awareness of awareness itself, a light unto itself! The mirror of awareness has now been cleansed and what is now reflected is our original face—unadulterated consciousness itself.
Reflection
True Seer-ship is seeing things as they are and not as we are.
