Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Yogi Kalinath - Chapter 4, Verse 21
Pada 4, Sutra 21
Sanskrit Verse
Cittaantara-drshye buddhi-buddher atiprasangah smrti-sankarash ca
Translation
If consciousness was perceived by another consciousness there would be an infinite regression from one cognition to another and the confusion of memory.
Interpretation
Within the individual there is only one consciousness. If it were not so and a series of consciousness was postulated within the individual it would invariably lead to a breakdown of the functions of memory. In essence the individual is whole. We are a reflection of the wholeness of the Universe— One Consciousness operating through various expressions known as body-mind vehicles.
Reflection
OM Sat-Cit-Ekam Brahman: OM True Existence, Infinite Consciousness, One Supreme Divinity, I am One with God!
This is the supreme memory or memory of the Supreme, our true essence beyond the vagrancies of the mind attached to and hypnotized by a temporary form and circumstances.
