Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Yogi Kalinath - Chapter 4, Verse 14

Pada 4, Sutra 14
Sanskrit Verse
Parinaamaikatvaad vastu-tattvam
Translation
The reality of an object derives from the uniqueness of transformation.
Interpretation
The nature of existence, of expression through Prakriti, is one of constant flux through the action of the Trigunas. This is deemed to be a process inherent in Prakriti and follows a certain pattern for each object. This provides the background of stability for each object and hence their uniqueness according to their set pattern of unfoldment of expression (i.e. transformation).
Reflection
Mind with its constant fluctuation is also an expression of Prakriti in flux with the Trigunas. Only beyond the states of the Gunas, Nirguna, can one experience Turiya, the undifferentiated state of consciousness.
