Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Yogi Kalinath - Chapter 3, Verse 53
Pada 3, Sutra 53
Sanskrit Verse
Jaati-laksana-deshair anyataanavacchedaat tulyayos tatah pratipattih
Translation
From that, the ability to distinguish between similars which normally cannot be distinguished by their category, appearance and position in space.
Interpretation
When one is able to see the transitional nature of the Universe and everything in it (objects), one develops the ability to see even the subtlest of differences in two identical objects. One no longer suffers delusion from the ephemeral world of appearances. In this state, it is actually the light of the Atman, of the Purusha shining on the object itself and not through the Samskaric filters of the Chitta or individual mind.
Reflection
The Purusha / Atman is Consciousness itself, it lives in Truth and is one with Existence, SAT. It knows through direct knowledge (Atma Tattva Vidya). This is the highest definition of what is termed Intuition being In-tuition, inwards knowing which is behind and beyond the fluctuations of the mindstuff (Chitta).
