Yoga Sutras of Patanjali translated by Yogi Kalinath - Chapter 2, Verse 28
Pada 2, Sutra 28
Sanskrit Verse
Yogaangaanusthaanaad ashuddhi-ksaye jnaana-deeptir aaviveka-khyaateh
Translation
By practicing the eight limbs of Yoga, impurities dwindle and the light of wisdom knowledge dawns leading to discernment.
Interpretation
Rishi Patanjali codified the practice of Yoga (being the Path of Union with the Self Within) into eight limbs. The systematic and on-going practice of Yoga purifies the body and psyche to reveal our Innate Wisdom. With the light of this wisdom knowledge, one is able to discern the truth—that one is the Atman (Spirit Soul) and not the body and mind coverings.
Reflection
Unreserved and being totally immersed in (i.e. committing to) regular, systematic and on-going Sadhana (Spiritual Practice) is necessary in order to reveal the truth within.
