Pada 3, Sutra 26

Sanskrit Verse

Bhuvana-jnaanam soorye sanyamaat

Translation

By constraint on the sun—knowledge of the worlds.

Interpretation

In this verse, Knowledge of the worlds implies both the outer and inner planes or Lokas.

The sun is at the center of our solar system with the planets revolving around it. Therefore becoming absorbed in the ‘centerpiece’ of our Universe, the Sun, one begets knowledge of the Solar system.

Within our own occult corporeity, the subtle body, we have our own Inner Sun. The path of our Inner Sun is the Sushumna Nadi, the central canal, the pathway of the Kundalini that stimulates and irradiates our centers of consciousness, the Chakras. Therefore rising upon the planes of our Inner Sun, we experience and become acquainted with different ‘worlds’ or states of consciousness. Briefly the planes or Lokas are:

Muladhara Chakra—Bhooloka—associated with the Mineral Kingdom and the terrestrial plane

Swadhishana Chakra—Bhuvarloka—associated with the Plant Kingdom and the intermediate realm between Heaven and Earth

Manipura Chakra—Swarloka—associated with the Animal Kingdom and the Heavenly plane of existence

Anahata Chakra—Mahaaloka—associated with the Human Kingdom and the plane of the Saints and Siddhas, the Perfected Ones

Vishuddha Chakra—Janoloka—associated with the Humane Kingdom and the plane of Rishis and Munis

Ajna Chakra—Tapoloka—associated with the Divine Kingdom and the plane of the gods

Sahasrara Chakra—Satyaloka—associated with Truth and Lord Brahma’s abode.

Reflection

Intention coupled with attention begets the Loka we experience and potentially reside in.
